Srapbooking Global, Sketch inspiration page - September 2022 Blog Hop

Welcome to this months hop - I got to pick this one and I am looking forward to sharing my page with you. I love Sketches - I think they sometimes make it easier to scrap but other times well - you know it can be hard.

So this is my sketch but there is heaps to choose from on the net. I have a bucket load saved to a board on my Pinterest page and will add mine to it as well. I know you can go a bit left field from the original but sketches are really there for inspiration.

When designing this sketch all I had in mind was that I wanted 2 normal 6x4” photos on it and a couple of clusters of embellishments. I had no idea what orientation my photos were going to be in, actually I had no Idea what I wanted to scrap!
So first things first I picked a couple of photos from our trip to New Orleans for Backstage. However they were in landscape not portrait – no problems I just flipped the sketch to suit my photos. I then had to decide on my background colour – I am using the Celebrate Everything DSP – yes the same as last month, because it is a great pack of DSP.

I then used a dinner plate and my Stampin’ Write marker in black to draw my stitched circle (would have used the sewing machine but ahm that is packed up for a sewing room revamp). I did try it free hand first as the plate is bigger than I wanted but let’s face it, I can not draw a freehand circle lol.

So I positioned where I wanted my photos to land then I planned everything else out to match the sketch around the 2 photos. The sketch has multiple layers and it was a matter of working from below until I was happy with what I achieved. I also needed to turn the sketch to accommodate my landscape photos.
For some of the extra elements I used a variety of our dies this giving different edges to my DSP pieces underneath. Because I turn the sketch on its side it made it so that my title was fatter than the sketch aloud for so I had to do some serious tweaking with my placement plus I didn’t want to lose the title in busy background.

The Glossy Dots Assortments provided me with fun bead like accents, the feathers were from the table displays at the actual event and the black plastic pieces I cut myself with my cutter. I used a variety of stamp sets to get the sentiments I wanted - I also had to put my handwriting to the test.
