Window box thinking of you greeting card

Make a card, send a card!
Sometimes it’s nice to get mail just because. What’s the main reason you give cards?

About Greeting Cards – General Facts
• Americans purchase approximately 6.5 billion greeting cards each year. Annual retail sales of greeting cards are estimated between $7 and $8 billion.

• The most popular Everyday card-sending occasion by far is Birthday, followed by a number of secondary occasions that include Sympathy, Thank You, Wedding, Thinking of You, Get Well, New Baby and Congratulations.

• The most popular Seasonal cards are Christmas cards, with some 1.6 billion units purchased (including boxed cards). This is followed by cards for Valentine’s Day (145 million units, not including classroom valentines), Mother’s Day (133 million units), Father’s Day (90 million units), Graduation (67 million units), Easter (57 million units), Halloween (21 million units), Thanksgiving (15 million units) and St. Patrick's Day (7 million units).

• Women purchase an estimated 80% of all greeting cards. Women spend more time choosing a card than men, and are more likely to buy several cards at once.

• Seven out of 10 card buyers surveyed consider greeting cards “absolutely” or “almost” essential to them. Eight out of 10 of these buyers expect their purchases to remain the same going forward. Of the balance, twice as many card buyers say they will "increase" their purchasing as say they will "decrease" their purchasing in the coming year.

• Younger card buyers and those who are more technology savvy are currently the ones most engaged in buying paper greeting cards online.

• Most people now acknowledge many more birthdays than ever before because of Facebook, but they aren’t necessarily sending fewer cards as a result.

• The tradition of giving greeting cards as a meaningful expression of personal affection for another person is still being deeply ingrained in today’s youth, and this tradition will likely continue as they become adults and become responsible for managing their own important relationships.

mmmm Interesting

ESAD Retirement list Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to another ESAD Blog Hop - this month featuring our Stampin' Up! Retirement list. If you have hopped here from Rachael's blog or joined the hop here via a search engine welcome. Please continue to hop about the list to bid a fond farewell to some wonderful stamp sets, papers, punches, Framelits and embellishments as we make room for our exciting new goodies.

Will I miss the outgoing In-Colours? Yes I will!

Cucumber crush is tonight's - sorry your leaving - featured colour and the Stamp set is Peaceful Pines.

Not a difficult card to recreate but a lovely Christmas card all the same and way more sparkly in real life. I used this card for part of my monthly Stamp-a-Stack class and my ladies loved it.
We make 3 "Occasion" Cards all the same and 3 Christmas cards once a month together - when Christmas sneaks up on us as it always does we will be ready this year!

Retiring Items Used for this Card
Some items are not retiring like the Large letters Dies - Oh the bundle is but not the individual items so stamps and framelits carry over which is great for us Scrappers.

Moving Forward in the new Annual Catalogue items.

I couldn't pick just one set or item to focus on so you will continue to see more retiring items featured in my posts right up to the last minute - with some sneak peaks thrown in for a bit of variety. But for now continue along the hop to Narelle's Blog and lets see what she has to show us.

Glimmer Paper, Stylish Stems and Stampin' Up! Perfect.

Oh how I have fallen in love with the 2nd release Sale-A-Bration products especially this Glimmer Paper. It works beautifully peaking through the flower image from the Stylish Stems Framelits.

Perusing about Pinterest I stumbled across Sarah Lancaster in France and loved what she had done with the Glimmer Paper so saved it to my board for the inspiration to make a set of my own. I will say I have now used up a whole pack of Glimmer Paper just making sets of these cards. My class ladies have also made a set each - You can make 16 of each card (48 in total) with one pack and have some long strips left for other projects if you are frugal with your cutting.

I used the Stitched Framelits for the top square, the scallop square from the square layering Framelits underneath so there is also a pretty edge.

This is the framelit set that is bundled with Special Reason and you will find some other cards I have made with this bundle here with the tag 2017 Occasions Catalogue.

If you would like to make this set of cards this is what you will need.
