Stampin' Up! Background Technique - SBTD March Blog Hop

Welcome to the March Stampers By the Dozen Blog Hop. This month we are looking at background techniques. so you will see this common theme as you follow the hop through the links below. I recently went away scrapping and had a ball with my friends. We go away yearly at least and this is the time I get most of my 12x12 scrap pages done.

A little background on this scrap page - my daughter has been doing drama classes for the last 5 years at The Mad Cow Theatre Company. This year she had a main role in a piece called 'The Watch'. The photo was taken by the event photographer from side stage.

So how does this fit into our theme - I used coloured embossing paste as my background on the page. I also added some sewing - it looks a bit like a frame if you ask me and I will admit most pages this getaway had sewing on them!

The embossing paste was coloured on my Teflon mat - nothing sticks to this baby including dried embossing paste -  using our Brushos. Wow they blended nicely into the paste but initially I started smearing it over my stencil before it was completely blended for a bit of variety.

I overestimated my 'need' when I took the paste from the jar as it goes a long way so had a fair wack of left over. I used all my stencils in the pack to make some card fronts with the excess. Because I had already mixed the paste with the powder and it was all one consistent colour I got my finger tapping and sprinkled more Brusho on my project. I pushed it about a bit and love how my bricks now have dark lines on them for a little more colour variation.

For the Scrap Page I used these pieces plus some goodies from my stash and bits I made on my laser cutting machine.

 Goodies for the card.
