Making Decorative Borders with Stampin' Up! - Scrapbooking Global January 2022

For this months page I am making a decorative border with my Stampin' Up! goodies for a scrap page. That's right it is  time for the Scrapbooking Global January 2022 blog hop and our theme this month is Decorative Borders - Sherry on our design team picked this theme and I really enjoyed thinking outside my square for this one.

We all have those piles of off cuts that clutter up a container with a 'I will use that one day' thought in our head. Well for this page I have done just that. I have created a scrappy border with leftover Christmas Designer Series Paper scraps that I though fit in with my photo. I even pulled out some carry over stamp sets to add some sentiments that went with my page.

Scrapbook page

This is where I started - and I could honestly say I could make another heap of these pages and not make a dent in my edge scraps.

Starting Point of an idea

stitched paper pieces

Following working out where I wanted all of my strips I used a little multipurpose glue on the ends to stick them down. I didn't add adhesive in the center where I was planning on stitching as I didn't want my needle to gum up as such. Yes I used a normal sewing machine however I do have a needle specially popped aside for card or paper as once used on paper it goes blunt and will trash fabric.

Tree Embelishment.

The tree from Perfectly Plaid made a great little embellishment especially coloured like little lights. I added some gems and stitching to finish it off. I then raided my Christmas stamp stash to get some appropriate sentiments to pop on my page.

  1. Your stitching around the edges is so straight!! What a brilliant page - I love the scrappy edging of all those pieces!! And the great soft effect of the greenery around your photo really frames it beautifully. What a marvellous creative page.
